A combination of nostalgia and the more compelling story/character development. 5 added a lot of quality of life improvements. It’s an easier entry to the series (not a bad thing) and it doesn’t have you doing “chores”. If you played 5 first then 4 and definitely 3 will feel like a step backwards in terms of mechanics.
