Sometimes the difference in price between Club and PG is not that much and sometimes Cunard will make free upgrade offers. My one time in Club was an upgrade I received. I could not find any difference in the cabin and its amenities from Britannia other than the cabin was on deck 8 (on QE) and much noisier due to being below a public deck.
The sheltered balconies on the Queen Mary 2 are usually bigger than the standard balconies and are cheaper. Sheltered balconies are protected on all sides and built into the ship’s hull, standard balconies are open to the air and elements. Moving from a protected balcony cabin to a standard balcony cabin is considered an upgrade by Cunard.
I’d argue that the £100 difference between BC and PG is better value than the £100 difference between Britannia Balcony and BC. I agree with your analysis. You pay a big premium for BC over Brittania, basically for the single seating restaurant and nothing else, same sized cabin as Brittania .
