First and foremost, exotic armor is fine for literally all content except tier 4 fractals. Tier 1 & 2 fractals are absolutely fine without a single piece of ascended armor and just getting ascended trinkets. Tier 3, it'll be slightly easier to get the Agony Resistance (AR) you need with a couple pieces of ascended armor, but still doable. Raids The best way is to check which map has the best farm effort/currency to trinket ratio for the one you want. For example: a backpiece in Siren's Landing (season 3) only costs karma and the map currency (Orrian Pearl). On another map it will be map currency + unbound magic. If you go for the backpack in Siren's Landing you save the unbound magic An important note about exotic karma armor sets is that they cannot be salvaged. This means you might not be able to get back your runes. If you choose to use eagle runes this isn't such a big problem, but if you want to use scholar runes you might not want to waste them on a set like that. buy cheapest exotics armor pieces (20 silver) from tp. salvage with black lion salvage kit (if you have spare, their drop better than mystic salvage kit), otherwise use mystic salvage kit. hopefully you will get some ectos, so you can return ur money in addition to glob of dark matters. 10. Get exotic gear off the TP. For everything except fractals it is all you need, and if you play the build a lot, you can get towards ascended gear for it. It is really only slightly weaker, and it will almost never be the difference maker. Honestly you only NEED ascended gear for fractals for the agony resist.

Players should be entitled to get their best-in-slot gear with minimal effort, just as we did in Guild Wars - go to a vendor, buy it with the stuff you had gotten all or most of just by leveling up to 20. Agreed. First ascended set I basically always would recommend berserkers because of how useful it is in the whole game. Also in Fractals power DPS is meta because there are way too many short phases in fights so condi doesn't get chance to ramp up fast enough (I guess with the exception of a few builds that heavily use burn because it ticks hard and fast). Yes, Ascended gear was a departure from how gear was handled in the original GW game. So was putting a large percentage of character stats on gear. So was having 13-16 pieces of gear to fully gear a character for land combat (plus more for underwater, if anyone cares anymore). I was a big fan of the original game.
Ascended Trinkets. In general I find LS3 maps much easier to get a load of the materials for. Siren's Reef Landing and Bitterfrost Frontier in particular. You can get the amulet, backpack, 1 ring and 1 accessory from these maps. Dragonfall seems like it might be a good place to get the 2nd accessory and I'll usually just get the ring from
Fastest way to exotics, and it's free. If you're looking for fast, craft cheap ascended armor and weapons, and use the mystic forge to stat-change them into Minstrels. This still costs insignias and inscriptions though, so there is a cost in Pearls for each piece that will hurt. The armor can be zerk exotic, but try get ascended weapons and trinkets (u can get trinkets through wvw reward tracks). This costs you less than 100g in total. This is more than sufficient to raid. By learning and starting the raids, you will get gear in itself much faster htan you ever could through WvW.
